General Moonridge – GMO
Area Overview
This area is characterized by its curvy, narrow mountain roads where it is easy to get lost without a map or a good memory and the steep terrain with most homes built at least partially on uneven ground. Hugging the ridgetops, these homes experience most of the passing rain and snow storms, but the views and gorgeous setting make it worth the effort. Homes nearest the ski resorts often have the lulling background noise of the snow-making equipment during the winter.

Natural Surroundings
The area is bordered on the south and partially on the west and east by National Forest and on the north by currently forested private land. The steep terrain and tree-covered landscape invites lots of wildlife to be part of the natural surroundings here. Residents have sighted black bears and mountain lions and the area serves as a natural home to many raccoons, squirrels and coyotes.
Most mountain storms catch on these southern ridge tops, bringing lots of rain and snow to the area. With the beautiful shade from the many trees in the area, the snow usually lasts for long periods.
