Forest Springs Area Overview

Forest Springs is an upscale, established neighborhood in the midst of Big Bear City. The flat terrain with some views of surrounding mountains gives it a suburban feel, but the open lots and many trees give the reminder that it is still in the mountain forest. Larger lot sizes provide more open space than in the immediately surrounding areas.

  • Mountain suburban feel
  • Flat terrain with many trees and some open spaces
  • Good-sized yards, all nicely maintained
  • Neighborhood pride of clean, well-maintained homes and yards
  • Views of surrounding mountains (and underground utilities keep the views clear)
  • Quiet, off the beaten path

Natural Surroundings

Though this subdivision is surrounded by other development, it sits near the border of Baldwin Lake on the northeastern edge. Baldwin Lake is dry the majority of the time but still provides the opportunity to view wildlife crossing through. When the area has water, many birds species, such as ducks, coots, herons, pelicans and hunting bald eagles can be seen.

The area contains many trees, including some very large, beautifully old pines and junipers. The open spaces of the interior provided by some open yards and lots gives a more natural feel to the whole area. It also gives the chance to observe smaller wildlife, such as squirrels, rabbits and raccoons, as well as, hawks, owls and many varieties of smaller birds—finches, sparrows, bluebirds, pine siskins, flickers, ravens, woodpeckers and blue jays.
