Originally, Eagle Point was developed for homesites back in the 1960s by the bear Valley Mutal Water Company. It grew and developed more throughout the years, starting in the 1970s. The majority of the homes are medium-sized in classic styles that vary from ranch styles, log-style, victorians, chalets, and beautiful modern styles. The lakefront lots have docks, and the homes along the east side of the area are fairly large.

The location of Eagle Point is ideal for full-time residents and as a secondary home to put on the rental market. Vacation homeowners in Big Bear strive to have homes near Snow Summit, Bear Mountain, or the Big Bear Village. Eagle Point in Big Bear is in between both locations, walking distance to the Village and a couple of minutes drive away from the ski resorts. Meadow Park and Swim Beach are walking distance to many of the homes in this area.

Eagle Point’s Natural Surroundings

Along the lakeshore of this Eagle Point peninsula, it is easy to watch shorebirds and water fowl—egrets, great blue herons, sea gulls, white pelicans, coots and several types of ducks. The lake around the peninsula is shallow only for a short ways and drops off quickly to the depth of the center of the lake.

Pine trees stand throughout the area giving plenty of shade and woodsy feel. The wooded north shore stands out across the lake to give a scenic backdrop to the lake views. Before houses, the area was bald eagle habitat, so it is still possible to catch sight of one on occasion, either in a nearby treetop or eating a fish along the shoreline.
