Meadowbrook Estates | Big Bear Real Estate Meadowbrook Estates is located in the eastern end of the Big Bear Valley of California. This is where you’ll find Big Bear properties for sale on acreage between one and six acres. These spacious lots are perfect for those who enjoy privacy and seclusion.

Another attractive feature that makes this Big Bear neighborhood special is that the homes are custom built. Each unique home is unlike any other, and if you are looking for a larger home, the square footage in this location starts at about 2,000 but there are homes that are 5,000 square feet or more.

Houses for sale in Meadowbrook Estates are breathtaking and favor log-style homes which are surrounded by miles of forest. This area is also unusual for the mountains because the terrain is mostly level and this fact makes it the perfect spot for leisurely ambles or strolls with family, friends, neighbors or pets.

Unlike some of the older communities in Big Bear, the utilities in this area were placed underground which is a lovely asset. Views remain unobstructed and the wide, roomy streets are great during the winter months when the sun’s rays helps to keep them clear.

This neighborhood is also ideal for those who don’t want to fight the crowds or endure the noise on busy weekends. It is unique since the traffic is minimal most of the time. Many find this a relief during the busy holidays. Also, since there are very few vacation rentals in this area, it remains the perfect choice for those who seek a mountain retreat or a more secluded and exclusive mountain abode.

Meadowbrook Estates is best accessed off of Highway 38 on the east end of the valley through Mentone and Redlands. Locals favor this travel route since it is usually the least congested and most scenic.

Tree lined panoramic views and less human dwellers make wildlife sightings more frequent than other more populated areas. Another nice natural feature is the night sky since being located away from Big Bear town center means that the city lights won’t interfere with any stargazing.

Of course, there are some other considerations to keep in mind when looking at homes in Meadowbrook Estates. For instance, first phase houses located on Wilderness Drive were set up on septic and not on a sewer system.

Also, the drive to town is about ten to fifteen minutes. This really isn’t too far but it does mean that a quick trip to the store takes longer than in other areas of the valley. The good news is that it is only a short car ride over to the small commerce district in Sugarloaf. There you can find a small handful of businesses including a community market and Post Office.
