Real Estate in Erwin Lake – ERWL (area)

Erwin Lake Area Overview

At the southeast end of the valley, the Erwin Lake area runs along both sides of Highway 38 as it heads up toward Onyx Summit to then drop down the hill. The mainly flat terrain helps to make the views long across the lakebed and the surrounding forested hillsides.

Wide open spaces in Erwin Lake

  • Wide open views from many places
  • Forest boundaries nearly all the way around
  • Room to move around, keep horses/animals
  • Easy access down the hill via Highway 38
  • Natural Surroundings

Erwin Lake, the mostly dry lakebed on the east side of the area, along with the surrounding landscape of low vegetation and chaparral creates great long distance views of the forested slopes to the east. With National Forest land surrounding most of the area, there is plenty of opportunity for spotting wildlife, from the ravens that hang out on the lakebed to the jack rabbits in the chaparral and the coyotes, hawks and owls moving through the open forest.

One of the benefits of Erwin Lake real estate in the eastern portion of the valley is less snowfall in the winter and more rainfall in the spring and early summer. This and the open forest setting establish a great opportunity for huge numbers of wildflowers to spring to life through the whole Erwin Lake area.
